Dear Costa Rica, Show Me the "Pura Vida"

This upcoming weekend my husband Andrew is taking me to Costa Rica for my birthday! It could not get here any sooner after this blizzard. Is it just me or do the few days before a vacation feel like everything gets a little more crazier than usual? I digress. I am very grateful for Andrew's wonderful gift of this well needed vacation. I'm already planning my yoga sequences in this beautiful country. Getting back to my own practice in nature. One of the many challenges being a yoga teacher is finding the time to keep up with your own practice. When I do have the chance, I devour it. Below are a few goals I plan on accomplishing during my stay.

Here are my goals below and I hope Andrew joins me when he can:

1. Breathe- sit near the shoreline daily and practice pranayama. Being present. Feel the elements around me. Let the breath mimic the sound of the ocean waves. Enjoy the sunshine on my skin. Listen to the sound of exotic birds and monkeys near by. Feel the breath travel through my whole body. Anchor my mantra to the moment.

2. Really find out why Costa Rica's mantra is "Pura Vida"- If I can during my stay I will post about this.

3. Visit the waterfalls and practice my forearmstand, headless headstand or grasshopper. Very challenging. If I don't get it, I will just have to re-visit!

3. Enjoy every intimate moment I get to spend with my soulmate. Thailand was very fast-paced and full of excitement. Our marriage deepens every vacation and traveling together is the thread that makes us strong. I'm really looking forward to just being near him in the sunshine. Everything else is a plus.

4. Above all, enjoy my birthday. It comes once a year, and is denied by many. Celebrating it means so much more as I get older. I plan on meditating early and 36 sun salutations. The rest of the day will be enjoyable I'm sure.

Three years practicing, Yoga has taught me that during the journey the scenery may not always be perfect. Just keep moving forward to get to the destination. I feel I am finally at a point in my journey, where I can really enjoy my practice. Really enjoy the house I redecorated. Perfect timing for this trip. As I always say, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

I will try my best to post during my stay. Until next time...

Namaste-

Lula
